Our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is run at
Trawangan Dive, Gili Trawangan. The course will prepare you to become a fully
qualified PADI Scuba Diving Instructor. Our PADI Course Director, Holly will
not only teach you the entire PADI IDC syllabus, but will be able to teach you
about what to expect when entering the industry for the first time. Holly has been
working with recreational scuba training for over 10 years and has been diving
for over 15 years. She can explain the expectations of employers around the
world and conversely, what to expect from potential employers.
Of course continuing your education is also a good idea, and
this can be dependent on where you wish to teach and of course you’re
particular diving interests. With the MSDT preparation course you will gain 5 specialties
in your chosen fields and once you have certified 25 students you will be
eligible to apply for MSDT. It is often the case that employers will require a
prospective employee to have the MSDT rating. The MSDT will give you a slight
edge over other prospective candidates and also show your commitment to the PADI
Education system. Of course it also
means that you are able to teach a wider range of PADI programs.
Another continuing education program is the PADI Staff
Instructor Course. The PADI Staff Instructor Rating means that you are able to
teach Assistant Instructor Courses as well as assist on all portions of the
Instructor Development Course (IDC). It is also a prerequisite for the Master
Instructor Rating. The Master Instructor Rating is often a requirement when
dive centers are employing for management positions.
Of course sometimes you may only wish to teach one or two specialty
courses, such as wreck and nitrox, which can often be the case if you are
intending on working in an area where there are shallow wrecks.
